Hospitals rolling out outpatient and inpatient services department by department

For hospitals

Keep outpatient and inpatient work on one patient record, and plan the rollout by department. Emergency, theatre, nursing, inpatients and beds, and pharmacy can all be evaluated now.

Scope summary before you plan a rollout

  • Available to evaluate: outpatient clinics, emergency, theatre and surgery, nursing care, inpatients and beds, pharmacy and stock, laboratory, radiology, claims and approvals, and billing.
  • Still being completed in Flow: general quality indicators, which must not be treated as live reporting.
  • Not claimed: dedicated blood bank, dialysis, physiotherapy and maternity modules.

Illustrative example: admission to discharge

This example uses synthetic data. A patient, Noor Rahman, is seen in outpatients and then admitted. Registration and the consultation record carry across, a bed is allocated and tracked on the bed board, and nursing staff record notes and observations and hand over between shifts. Pharmacy supplies the inpatient prescriptions. At discharge the team works through a checklist that includes a signed discharge summary and a finalised bill, and the bed is released for cleaning.

Implementation responsibilities

Agree which departments go live first, who owns data preparation and training, and how each handover is tested before the next department joins. Flow provides separately selected modules for incidents, complaints, quality, risk, assets and documents. Audit and policy records can support regulatory or accreditation review, while qualified people remain responsible for assessing practice and signing off.

A staged demo and readiness discussion

Request a staged demonstration: outpatient to admission and discharge first, then pharmacy and billing, then a Flow incident or audit example. Add an emergency arrival or a theatre case if those departments are in your first phase.

What you open with

A starting selection for your evaluation, not every feature in the chosen plan. Each module shows how it is bought, and a module marked as still being completed is not ready to deploy.

Extend clinical work into hospital oversight

Start with Care Hospitals and the workflows confirmed for your implementation. Add Flow Incidents and Quality for investigation and audit work, then select Complaints, Risk, Assets or Documents as needed. Engage can support patient enquiries and commercial relationships when relevant. These are chosen capabilities across the platform, not a promise that every hospital department has a dedicated module.

Common questions

  • Care Hospitals adds nursing care, inpatients and beds, emergency, and theatre and surgery, and includes pharmacy.

  • Yes. Both are available in Care Hospitals. Emergency covers arrival, triage, the department board and the disposition; Theatre and surgery covers booking, the WHO checklist, anaesthesia, the operation note and recovery. Agree which departments go live first in your rollout plan.

  • Yes, for hospitals licensed in Abu Dhabi. Each incident goes to the DoH incident reporting gateway when it is reported, along with maternal and perinatal death reports and the monthly zero report. Other external reporting stays with the hospital.

  • No live general Quality indicators capability is promised. That area is still being completed. Available clinical audit scoring and other confirmed Flow workflows can be demonstrated separately.

  • No. The scope is the named Care and Flow capabilities. Dedicated blood bank, dialysis, physiotherapy and maternity modules are not claimed, and specialist requirements should be reviewed explicitly before purchase.
