Patient Registration
Start each visit with the right patient record
NextHealth CareIncluded in Care Clinics, Care Clinics Pro and Care Hospitals.
NXH Care registration gives each patient one record, identified by an MRN that follows them across the group’s branches. Reception searches first, then enters the identity document and demographics in a guided form. Care checks the required fields and the Emirates ID format, and refuses a second record when an identity number already exists in the group. It does not match names to find near duplicates, so the search before registering remains the front desk’s check. Insurance and regulatory details are captured in the same workflow.

What your team can do
- Search by name, MRN, identity number or date of birth before creating a record.
- Issue one MRN per patient that follows them across the group’s branches.
- Refuse a new record when an identity number already exists in the group.
- Validate the Emirates ID format and the required fields before saving.
- Record the UAE Unified Number where the patient has no Emirates ID.
Give every visit a reliable starting point
A registration error follows a patient well beyond the front desk. A second record for someone who already attends leaves later teams to work out which information belongs together.
In NXH Care, reception searches by name, MRN, identity number or date of birth before creating a record. The identity document number is stored encrypted and shown masked, and the form will not save without the required fields. Each patient receives one MRN that follows them across the group’s branches and never changes.
How a possible duplicate is handled
- Care refuses a new record when the Emirates ID, the Unified Number or another identity document number already exists in the group, and points staff to the existing record.
- Care does not compare names and dates of birth to find near matches. A patient with no identity document, or a mistyped number, can still end up with two records, so the search before registering stays the front desk’s check.
Who corrects or merges a record
Staff with permission to update patients correct details on the profile, and changes are audited. Care has no general tool for merging two ordinary duplicate records. Its only merge moves a record created for an unidentified patient in the emergency workflow into the person’s existing record, with a reason and the name of the person who merged it, and it can be reversed by the technical team.
Link with NXH Engage
Clinics that also run NXH Engage on a connected branch link each Engage client to a Care patient. A match on a strong identifier links automatically, while a phone-only or uncertain match is offered as a candidate that a person confirms or dismisses. See Client 360.
Illustrative example: an existing record
This example uses synthetic data. Hanan Yousef, a made-up patient, arrives and the receptionist searches by name without finding her. She enters Hanan’s Emirates ID, and Care refuses the save because that number already belongs to a record in the group, registered under a different spelling. The receptionist opens the existing record, corrects the spelling on the profile and continues the visit from there.

Registration is included in Care Clinics, Care Clinics Pro and Care Hospitals. The module is part of the shared clinical foundation in every Care plan.
-
In part. Care refuses a new record when the Emirates ID, Unified Number or another identity document number already exists in the group. It does not match names or dates of birth, so staff still search before they register.
-
The workflow captures essential patient information needed for clinical, insurance and regulatory processes. Review the actual fields during your demonstration against the registration requirements of your facility.
-
Yes. Bring a representative returning-patient example to see how the team finds the record and confirms existing information before continuing the visit.
-
Not in general. Care’s only merge moves a record created for an unidentified emergency patient into the person’s existing record, and it keeps the reason and who merged it. Merging two ordinary duplicates is not part of the available scope.
