Radiology & Imaging

Bring the imaging request and report back to the patient

NextHealth Care

Included in Care Clinics Pro and Care Hospitals; available as an add-on to Care Clinics.

NXH Care radiology connects the imaging request, the study and the report to the patient’s visit. The clinician orders from the encounter, the technologist records the study and attaches images, and DICOM files can be reviewed in a browser viewer. The radiologist writes findings and an impression and signs, and the clinician reads the signed impression on the encounter. Care does not connect to modalities or a PACS, and it does not record radiation dose.

Connect the imaging request with the report and study

  1. Step 1

    Request

Order the study from the encounter

  2. Step 2

    Acquire

Record the study and attach the images

  3. Step 3

    Report

Write and sign the radiologist’s report

  4. Step 4

    Review

Read the signed impression on the encounter

What your team can do

  • Order imaging from the encounter with the study, priority, performing centre and indication.
  • Record the acquisition of each study, including who performed it and when.
  • Attach JPG, PNG, WebP or DICOM images and review DICOM files in the browser viewer.
  • Write findings, an impression and recommendations, then sign the report.
  • Add a timestamped addendum to a signed report, which marks it amended.
  • Read the signed impression from the patient’s encounter.

Bring the imaging result back into the clinical visit

Imaging involves a request, a study and a report produced at different stages by different people. The treating clinician needs them together when reviewing the patient.

In NXH Care a clinician orders imaging from the encounter, choosing the study, the priority and the performing centre, with the clinical indication. The centre can be another branch of the group, or an outside centre recorded as external, whose report is entered by hand. At the centre the technologist records who acquired the study and when, and attaches the images. The radiologist then writes findings, an impression and recommendations, and signs.

What Care does with images

  • Images attach to the study as JPG, PNG or WebP files, or as DICOM files. DICOM files open in a viewer in the browser with window level, zoom, pan and slice scrolling.
  • Care does not exchange DICOM with modalities or a PACS. It has no modality worklist, does not record radiation dose and does not produce structured reports. A study can store a DICOM study UID that staff enter.
  • No compatibility with any device or PACS is claimed. Scope any equipment connection with the team before agreement, and see the DICOM page for what a compatibility assessment covers.

Reports and critical findings

The impression is required. A draft is kept until signed, and a signed report is locked: a change is a timestamped addendum, which marks the report amended. The clinician sees only the signed impression on the encounter. When a radiologist signs a report marked critical, Care sends an alert to the ordering clinician’s notification bell. It does not call or text the clinician or escalate an unread alert.

Illustrative example: from request to report

This example uses synthetic data. Dr Rami Haddad, a made-up clinician, orders a chest study for a synthetic patient, Nadia Farid, with an indication. At the imaging centre the technologist records the acquisition and attaches the DICOM files. The radiologist opens them in the viewer, writes the findings and impression, marks the report critical and signs. Dr Haddad receives an alert and reads the signed impression on the encounter.

Common questions

  • Radiology is included in Care Clinics Pro and Care Hospitals. It is not included in the Care Clinics plan.

  • The clinician reads the signed impression on the encounter. Staff who can see the order can open its images in the viewer, including DICOM files. Care holds the images itself and does not link to a PACS.

  • Findings, an impression, which is required, and recommendations, with a critical flag. A draft is kept until signed, and a signed report changes only through a timestamped addendum. Report templates are not described here.

  • No. Care has no PACS link and no modality worklist, and no device or PACS compatibility is claimed. Studies are attached as files. Discuss your equipment with the technical team before agreement.

  • No. Radiation dose records are not part of the available scope.
