CPT International Interoperability and terminology Capability within agreed scope

CPT procedure coding

We support CPT lookup by name or number in Care, helping your team review procedure coding alongside clinical documentation and the claims workflow in its selected plan.

Subject type: terminology. CPT is a procedure code set maintained and licensed by the American Medical Association. This page is about code lookup and release management, not an accreditation or survey topic.

What is built

  • Care provides CPT lookup by name or number.
  • Clinical documentation holds the supporting procedure context.
  • Claims and approvals carries the selected code into the claims workflow, where UAE claims declare CPT as an activity code type.

Release, licence and updates

The CPT release loaded in Care, the licence terms for your deployment and the process for loading a new annual release are agreed during implementation. This page states no release. No general right to redistribute CPT content is claimed.

Illustrative example: from a procedure to a claim

This example uses synthetic data. A clinician documents a minor procedure for a synthetic patient, Hamad Rashed, searches for the procedure by name, selects the CPT code and signs the note. When the claim is built, the selected code travels with it as an activity code. Coding does not guarantee reimbursement. The payer assesses the claim, and a code on a claim does not establish medical necessity or coding accuracy.

Questions to settle in implementation

  • Which CPT release and licence terms apply to your facility.
  • Who loads updates, and when.
  • Who reviews code selection for each service line.
  • Which other code sets your payers and regulator expect alongside CPT.

Official source

American Medical Association: CPT. The AMA owns the code set and its licensing terms. No automatic coding, payer approval or redistribution right is claimed here.

What we claim, precisely

The system holds the evidence; the facility's accountable person attests. Nothing here asserts that a facility is compliant.

Common questions

  • No automatic code selection is claimed. The confirmed capability is lookup by name or number, with the responsible professional deciding whether the documentation supports the selected procedure code.

  • This page states no release. The release, the licence terms and the update process are agreed with our team during implementation, and your facility decides when a new release is adopted.

  • No. The payer assesses the claim under its own rules. A code selected by the responsible professional is not proof of medical necessity, coding accuracy or payer acceptance.
