Point of sale
NextHealth EngagePart of the Billing and point of sale add-on
NXH Engage point of sale brings the sale and payment into the front-desk workflow. Teams sell services, products and gift cards, apply offers or promotional codes and issue VAT invoices. Payments can use cash, card, wallet, gift card or points, with split methods supported. Retail stock is tracked by batch and tills are reconciled at close, giving the team a connected account of the transaction and the payment activity it needs to review at the end of the day.

What your team can do
- Sell services, retail products and gift cards together.
- Apply offers and promotional codes to the sale.
- Take cash, card, wallet, gift card or points payments.
- Split a payment across the supported payment methods.
- Issue VAT invoices within the front-desk transaction workflow.
- Track retail batches and reconcile tills at close.
The sale and payment need to remain explainable together.
Give the front desk one transaction to work through
A checkout may involve a service, a retail item and more than one way to pay. Staff need to apply the relevant offer, take the payment and issue the invoice, while the finance team needs a record it can reconcile.
Payment methods and what each needs
- Recorded at the till: cash, card terminal, and value already held, which means wallet credit, a gift card, loyalty points or a booking deposit. A card terminal payment is recorded by the cashier. Engage does not connect to the terminal, and no outside provider is involved in any of these.
- Processed online: Stripe and Tabby. Each needs the clinic’s own account with that provider, connected to the deployment, and each provider decides which countries, currencies and customers it supports.
A split payment can combine several methods, each used once, with at most one online method.
Invoices, tax and country
Invoices follow the branch’s tax profile. Tax rates and profiles are configured per branch, so each branch invoices with the tax of the country it trades in rather than from a fixed list of countries. No real-time e-invoice clearing service is connected.
Illustrative example: invoice, refund and till close
This example uses synthetic data.
A cashier opens her till with a float. Mariam Aziz, a made-up client, buys a hydration facial and a retail serum. A promotional code applies an offer to the facial, and she splits the payment between a gift card and the card terminal. Engage issues the VAT invoice, takes the serum from its stock batches and records both payments. She later returns the serum and the cashier refunds the card payment to its original method, or to her wallet if she prefers. At close the cashier counts the drawer. Engage compares it with the expected cash: the opening float plus cash taken, less cash refunded. Card payments are reported beside the drawer, not inside it, and a shortfall is recorded as a cash variance.
