Packages and memberships
NextHealth EngagePart of the Billing and point of sale add-on
NXH Engage packages and memberships connects the treatment offer with the balance available to use. A package sells a set number of sessions with an expiry date, and its balance falls as visits are completed. A membership bills for each period of one, three, six or twelve months and can include sessions or a standing discount. Gift cards and wallet credit can be sold and redeemed at checkout, and the front desk sees balances before taking payment.

What your team can do
- Sell a package of treatment sessions with an expiry date.
- Reduce the remaining sessions as visits are completed.
- Bill a membership for each period of one, three, six or twelve months, with included sessions or a standing discount.
- Renew a membership each period, charging a Stripe card on file where the client has saved one.
- Sell and redeem gift cards and wallet credit at checkout.
- Show the front desk balances before collecting payment.
A purchased course needs a balance everyone can explain.
Help the desk explain what the client still has available
A course of treatment continues across visits, so the sale is only the beginning of the relationship. Staff need to know what remains, when it expires and how renewals are paid.
Packages, memberships and stored value compared
- Package: paid for once. It holds a fixed number of sessions with an expiry date and counts down as visits are completed. Engage can work out a pro rata refund for the unredeemed sessions of an active package.
- Membership: billed again for each period of one, three, six or twelve months. Each period has its own invoice and its own included sessions or standing discount, which can apply to services, packages or the whole catalogue.
- Gift card and wallet credit: stored value that is sold at checkout and spent like a payment. Each branch sets whether and when unspent value expires.
Renewals, expiry and card charging
When a period ends, Engage raises the next invoice. If the client has a card saved through Stripe and the clinic has its own Stripe account connected, Engage tries to charge that card, up to three times, and alerts cashiers and managers if a charge fails. Without a saved card the renewal is paid at the desk. An unpaid renewal keeps the member’s benefits for the branch’s grace days, and the membership lapses after its lapse days. Cancelling ends a membership at the period end unless a manager ends it at once, and no refund is made automatically. A pause takes effect at the period end.
Illustrative example: redeeming a package session
This example uses synthetic data.
Hana Mirza, a made-up client, buys a package of six sessions. The package shows six remaining and its expiry date. At her third visit reception attaches the package at check-in. When the visit is completed, the count falls from four to three, and the front desk sees that balance before the next checkout.

It can. Where the client has a card saved through Stripe and the clinic has its own Stripe account connected, Engage tries to charge the renewal invoice, up to three times, and alerts cashiers and managers if a charge fails. Without a saved card the renewal invoice is paid at the desk. Provider availability and terms depend on the clinic’s own account.
