Care connect

NextHealth Engage

Part of the Care connection add-on

NXH Engage Care connect brings the front-office workflow alongside the Care clinical system. A connected branch shows Care appointments as read-only entries on the Engage calendar. A match on a strong identifier links a client to a Care patient, while phone-only matches wait for a person to confirm them. The Engage till can collect payment against Care bills. Exchanges are signed and logged, and payments are retried if Care cannot be reached.

Connect the branch while keeping patient matching reviewed

  1. Step 1

    Connect branch

    Set the branch’s Care connection

  2. Step 2

    Receive visits

    Show Care appointments in Engage

  3. Step 3

    Match patient

    Confirm uncertain matches by hand

  4. Step 4

    Continue payment

Collect against the relevant Care bill

What your team can do

  • Set the Care connection for the relevant branch.
  • Show Care appointments, read only, on the connected Engage branch.
  • Link a client to a Care patient on a strong identifier match, and ask a person to confirm phone-only matches.
  • Collect payment against Care bills at the Engage till.
  • Sign and log every exchange between the connected products.
  • Retry unsent payments automatically and keep failed events for manual replay.
Why it is hard to do well

A connected visit still needs the correct patient match.

Carry the visit between the clinical and commercial teams

A clinic using both Care and Engage needs a clear handover between the systems. Reception needs the appointment, the patient identity must be matched correctly, and the till needs the right bill when payment is collected. These connections should be reviewed together.

Prerequisites

  • Connection: Care issues a connection for the clinic group, and an Engage administrator enters it. Each message between the products is signed.
  • Branch: the Engage branch is set to Care connected and linked to its Care facility.
  • Licence: the Care connection add-on, and the Billing and point of sale add-on to collect at the till.
  • Permissions: collecting a Care bill needs the permission to record payments. The view of what Engage has collected for Care needs the permission to manage billing settings.

Illustrative example: from appointment to a collected Care bill

This example uses synthetic data.

Maryam Nasser, a made-up patient, has an appointment in Care. On the connected Engage branch it appears on the calendar as a read-only entry. The only identifier shared with her Engage client is a phone number, so Engage does not link them. It lists a candidate on her profile, and the receptionist checks it against her identity document and confirms the match. When she pays at reception, the cashier collects against her Care bill at the Engage till. Engage records the payment first, then sends it to Care. If Care cannot be reached, the payment shows as pending and Engage keeps retrying until Care confirms. The money is Care’s revenue, not Engage’s.

Common questions

  • Care connect is part of the Care connection add-on for NXH Engage. It is selected alongside Engage core rather than included automatically in the core licence.

  • Only strong matches. A match on a strong identifier, such as an identity document, links a client to a Care patient automatically. A phone-only or uncertain match never links by itself: it appears as a candidate on the client profile, and a person confirms or dismisses it.

  • Yes. The connected workflow supports collecting payment against Care bills at the Engage till. Confirm the required point-of-sale scope alongside the Care connection.

  • Each exchange is signed and logged. A payment collected at the Engage till is recorded first and then sent to Care. If Care cannot be reached it stays pending and is retried automatically. Events that fail repeatedly are kept for a person to replay.

  • A connection issued by Care for the clinic group, entered by an Engage administrator. The branch is set to Care connected and linked to its Care facility. The licence includes the Care connection add-on, and the Billing and point of sale add-on to collect at the till.
