Online booking

NextHealth Engage

Part of the Online booking add-on

NXH Engage online booking lets patients choose appointments through branch booking and team pages. The workflow follows the same booking rules as the front desk, with requests held for approval where required and deposits used to hold a slot. A booking widget, API and webhooks support the connection with your website. The clinic can offer a patient-facing route into its schedule while retaining the booking process and confirmation approach that it has chosen for the branch.

What your team can do

  • Provide a booking page and team page per branch.
  • Let patients choose service, practitioner and appointment time.
  • Apply the same booking rules used by the desk.
  • Hold online requests for approval where required.
  • Use deposits to hold the requested appointment slot.
  • Connect your website through the widget, API and webhooks.
Why it is hard to do well

Online availability must follow the rules your desk uses.

Let patients book into the schedule your team manages

An online booking should fit the clinic’s actual schedule. The service, practitioner and time come from the same availability reception uses, and the clinic decides whether a request needs approval.

This is your clinic’s booking page, not our demo form

Online booking is the page your clinic offers its own patients, with an address for each branch. It is separate from the demo and trial forms on this website, which send a request to the NextHealth team.

Setup checklist

  • Switch the branch’s booking page on and choose its address.
  • Choose which services and practitioners appear online. A service is offered only when at least one online practitioner covers it, and on a branch connected to NXH Care the clinical services are booked in Care instead.
  • Set confirmation to instant or desk approval, and choose which extra details to ask for, such as email, date of birth, gender or a note. Name and mobile number are always asked.
  • Choose no online payment, a deposit or full payment. Taking payment online needs the clinic’s own Stripe or Tabby account, connected and switched on. Without one, or when requests wait for approval, nothing is taken online.
  • To book from your own website, list its address as an allowed website, then use the booking widget or the booking API. Add webhook addresses to hear about bookings: each delivery is signed, logged and can be sent again.

A slot held for a deposit is released if the deposit is not paid in time.

Illustrative example: a booking with a deposit

This example uses synthetic data.

Noor Karim, a made-up patient, opens the Marina branch booking page and chooses a consultation. She leaves the practitioner to the clinic, picks the first available time and enters her name and mobile number. The service carries a deposit and the branch has Stripe connected, so Engage holds the slot and sends her to a payment page. Once the deposit is paid, the booking is confirmed on the clinic’s calendar. Had she not paid in time, the slot would have been released.

  • Yes. A service can carry a fixed or percentage deposit, and the slot is held until it is paid. Taking the deposit online needs the clinic’s own Stripe or Tabby account, connected to the deployment. Without one, or when requests wait for desk approval, nothing is taken online. An unpaid hold is released after a set time.
