Keep video consultations in the same patient record

NextHealth Care

Available as an add-on to any Care plan.

NXH Care telehealth keeps the video consultation in the clinical workflow. A video appointment is booked on the doctor’s schedule, and starting the session from the day’s worklist opens the encounter. The clinician shares a private link, which the patient opens in a browser without an account after answering whether the call may be recorded. Notes, prescriptions and signing happen in the same visit record. Care does not verify the patient’s identity on the join screen, so the clinician confirms it.

What your team can do

  • Book video appointments on the doctor’s schedule with the Video modality.
  • See each day’s video visits as waiting, in session or completed.
  • Start the session from the worklist, which opens the encounter.
  • Share a private join link that works in a browser without an account.
  • Ask the patient for recording consent before joining, and keep the decision.
  • Document the consultation, prescriptions and referrals in the same encounter.

Keep remote care inside the encounter workflow

A video consultation starts before the call and continues after it. The appointment has to be booked, the patient needs a way to join and the clinician has to document the care.

In NXH Care a video appointment is booked on the doctor’s schedule with the Video modality. On the Telehealth worklist the clinician starts the session, which opens the encounter at once, so notes, diagnoses, prescriptions, referrals and signing work as they do for an in-person visit. The worklist shows each video visit as waiting, in session or completed.

How the patient joins

The clinician copies a private link and sends it by the facility’s usual channel, because Care does not send it. The patient opens it in a modern web browser without signing in or creating an account, answers one question about whether the call may be recorded, and joins. A patient who is signed in to the portal also sees the join link for a live visit there. The link is the only credential, and it stops working when the session ends. Care does not check the patient’s identity on the join screen, so the clinician confirms who is on the call under the facility’s own procedure.

Recording consent and what is kept

  • The Record button stays locked until the patient agrees. A refusal is stored on the session and the call runs unrecorded.
  • A recording saves to the clinician’s device, and the facility decides whether to attach it to the chart.
  • Video and audio travel directly between the two devices and are not stored on the server. Care keeps the session record: who, when, how long and the recording decision.

When the connection fails

If no picture or sound appears, the usual cause is the browser blocking the camera or microphone, and the patient allows access and reloads. If the connection drops, both people stay on the page and the call re-establishes when the patient rejoins from the same link. Some strict networks block direct connections between devices, so check your network with the team during deployment planning. Telehealth does not decide whether a video visit is clinically suitable. That stays with the clinician.

Common questions

  • Telehealth is available as an add-on to NXH Care. Confirm it in your selected Care scope; it is not included automatically in the base plans.

  • No. The patient opens a private link in a web browser and joins without signing in. The clinician copies and sends the link, and starts the video room from the visit in Care.

  • Notes, diagnoses and prescriptions are recorded in the same visit record. The clinician does not need to copy the consultation into a separate encounter afterwards.

  • Yes. The video visit list shows waiting, in-session and completed visits, and the clinician can start the room from the relevant appointment.

  • Care does not check identity on the join screen. The private link is the only credential, so the clinician confirms who is on the call under the facility’s own procedure.

  • Only with the patient’s agreement. The patient answers once before joining, and the Record button stays locked until they agree. A recording saves to the clinician’s device, and video and audio are not stored on the server.

  • Both people stay on the page, and the call re-establishes when the patient rejoins from the same link. If there is no picture or sound, the patient allows camera and microphone access in the browser and reloads.
